4IR at HEFMA Conference 2019

FS-Systems attended the Higher Education Facilities Management Association of Southern Africa’s (HEFMA) annual International Conference in October.


This year’s conference was held at the Fairway Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort in Johannesburg and hosted by the University of Johannesburg.

The theme of the conference was “The Role of Facilities Management in the 4th Industrial Revolution” and topics presented included ‘Facilities Leader Must Prepare for the age of Accelerating Technology’ by Mr Donald Guckert (APPA) US; ‘Embracing the Fourth Industrial Revolution for Efficient Utility Management’ by Mr Gafieldien (Stellenbosch University) and 'Facilities Management 2.0 - Myth or Reality?' by Professor Dave Roots (WITS University).


The topic "How 4IR Technology can Protect Lives and Assets" was presented at the conference by Alistair Witbooi, FS-Systems Strategic Key Accounts Manager, which highlighted the three ways FS-Systems uses IoT (Internet of Things), and artificial intelligence (AI) to protect lives and assets, including:


Sera4 Keyless Access Control solution, which eliminates the need for physical keys and improves operational efficiency

New AI technologies from Avigilon including Appearance Search Technology, Unusual Motion Detection (UMD) Technology and Focus of Attention

IoT Monitoring and digital reporting on Fire Alarm & Life Safety Systems
